More exercise for dogs through dog sharing
You don’t necessarily need your own dog. With Hondenlief you can also borrow dogs nearby for a walk — giving them even more fun and exercise.
That’s how it was for Pedro, Ralf and Elke — their story shows how dog sharing can enrich everyone involved.
Looking for a solution
Pedro, the proud owner of two gentle Labradors, faced a challenge. Work and private life kept him busier at times, so he looked for temporary support for his dogs. “I want my dogs to experience different situations — not just me but other people as well,” he says.
During their search, his wife found Hondenlief — and Pedro soon started looking for suitable dog borrowers. The first message went to Ralf and Elke — and they replied right away.
Love at first sight — between kids and dogs
The first meeting was a complete success: when the Labradors saw the children Luise and Rafael, sparks instantly flew — and vice versa. “That was it,” Pedro recalls. From then on it was clear: a special bond was forming.
Since then, the family regularly picks up the dogs whenever they feel like going for a walk. For the children it’s an adventure every time, and for the dogs a welcome change of pace.
Games, fun and learning together
Not only on walks but also at home, Luise and Rafael have lots of fun with the two Labradors. A favorite: little treat‑search games. The kids hide snacks on the patio and call the dogs to search — a game that stays exciting for both sides.
Gentle giants who love water
Pedro’s Labradors are typical of their breed: gentle, calm, sometimes a little lazy — but they come alive in water. Swimming and splashing are their passion, and now they regularly share that joy with Ralf, Elke and the children.
Enriching for everyone
Whether human or animal — in the end everyone benefits from dog sharing. “The dogs learn a lot, the kids do too, and we all gain from it,” sums up Pedro.
Thanks to Hondenlief, Pedro and his Labradors found new friends — and Ralf, Elke, Luise and Rafael regularly enjoy the company of two wonderful dogs without having to own one themselves.
