Katharina and Marika share a dog
Sometimes having your own dog doesn’t fit your life — whether due to work, time or circumstances. Thanks to dog sharing, you can still build a close bond with a four‑legged friend and even make new friendships. That’s exactly what Katharina and Marika experienced with Eripa.
The first contact via Hondenlief
One of them discovered Hondenlief more or less by chance: “I was sitting on the train, looked at the site and immediately thought: this is exactly right for me. I’d love to have my own dog, but it just doesn’t fit right now.”
Through the platform they finally got in touch with Eripa and her owner. The chemistry was right from the very first meeting — not only with the dog, but also between the two women. “Something personal developed as well. We get along great.”
Shared exercise and balance
Eripa is an athletic dog who needs plenty of exercise. That fits perfectly with Marika, who is very active herself: “It’s wonderful to go running with a dog. She’s more balanced because she gets a lot of movement — and for me it’s also a great balance.”
For the owner, support from a dog borrower is a real relief. “If I can’t make it, I know I can call her. Then she’ll at least take Eripa out for half an hour. That reassures me a lot.”
First steps without prior experience
Especially interesting: before Hondenlief, Marika had no experience with her own dog. “I actually started with zero experience. But everything went well; I learned step by step.”
They even mastered small challenges together. “I explicitly wrote that Eripa isn’t easy. But it worked right away — door open, dog out — everything was wonderful.”
More than just dog sharing
Today, not only the dog and the dog borrower are happy, but a genuine connection has also formed between the two women. “It’s really a great site — we found each other and it’s a perfect fit.”
Dog sharing shows once again that it’s not just the dogs who benefit — but also the people who get to know each other thanks to Hondenlief and enrich one another.
